About us The Failli Family
We are dedicated for over 40 years to the hospitality business, by running from their birth both the Hotel Sovestro and the Ristorante da Pode.
In 2017 we decided to broaden our horizons... by buying the Fattoria Sovestro, that we have renovated and renamed "Tenuta Sovestro".
Thanks to the 15 hectares of land, that make up the property of the Tenuta, we produce wine Chianti Colli Senesi, Vernaccia di San Gimignano, Extra Virgin olive oil, besides two types of grappa.
We obtained our b&b from the main house and the Dependance; the b&b includes 16 elegant, technological and functional rooms with bathroom. Every room stands out for its structural characteristics and furnishing features.
Historical notes Tenuta Sovestro
The history of the Failli family and of this property began in 1962, when our great-grandfather Gianni (known as Brinchio) had the brilliant idea of buying "Il Podere della Curva dell'Esse" as it was called by the locals, where he sensed something special could be born, something that could change his family's future.
Brinchio's daughter had married our grandfather Pode, who at the time was a master shoemaker in San Gimignano, also collaborating with Salvatore Ferragamo, who had its origins here.
Pode, who came from humble origins, had collaborated with local restaurants as a waiter in his free time since he was a boy; his passion was being among people. He didn't want to know about working the land, much less about trading his father-in-law's livestock.
For about 20 years from the time of purchase, the Sovestro farm was managed on a sharecropping basis with the family of farmers who had always taken care of it until the 80s. It was then that grandfather Pode, father Sergio and mother Lucia began to renovate the farmhouse and, after a lot of work and sacrifices, in 1985 they opened the da Pode restaurant in their home.
The restaurant was an immediate success and after about a decade Hotel Sovestro also came to life.
Finally, in 2017 the farm in front of the property was put up for sale… how could we resist the temptation?
The surroundings San Gimignano
The landscape that surrounds the elegant and sober building of Sovestro is very suggestive: from the balconies and garden one can enjoy the splendid view of stretches of land planted with vines and olive-trees, that change colour with the variations of the sunlight. Their soft reliefs attract the eye to the marvellous outline of San Gimignano.
In this enchanting place it is our custom to welcome visitors in a hall that was specially restructured, where they can taste farming products.
